Bethany United Methodist Church - Youth Ministry
The Bethany Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) is open to all middle school and high school youth. MYF meets at Bethany each Sunday evening from 5 - 7:30 pm, for Bible Study and supper, provided by the Church. The MYF participate in many worthwhile, rewarding, and enjoyable activities throughout the year. If you are a middle or high school youth and would like to participate in MYF, please contact Sondra Colbert via the Church Office at 804-642-2110.

Helping Hands Mission Camp -
Helping Hands Mission Camp, part of Helping
Hands Ministry, sponsored by the churches of Gloucester County, Virginia, USA.
Helping Hands Mission Camp a Christ centered, youth focused, multi-demoninational
community service mission for rising 7th graders through recent high school graduates.
Youth campers are divided into work teams, go into Gloucester County with adult mentors
and complete home maintenance, home repairs and small construction projects.
We work hard during the day and play hard at night with lively worship services and
scheduled evening activities including a trip to Water Country. All meals, activities and
a t-shirt are included in the fee.
We have fun, help our neighbors and experience worship on a different level with other

Helping Hands Mission Camp
Sunday, July 26 - Friday, July 31, 2009 - 32 Bethany youth participated in
the Helping Hands Mission Camp, part of
Helping Hands Ministry, sponsored by the churches of Gloucester County, Virginia, USA.

Bethany Methodist Men and Youth
Yard Sale
On Saturday, June 13th, the United Methodist Men and the youth are sponsoring a yard sale.
Hours will be 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. We will have coffee, doughnuts, chips and soft drinks
for sale in addition to the usual items. Every member is encouraged to donate clean,
sellable items. The church will be open and workers will be on duty to accept your donated
items between 5PM and 7PM Monday thru Thursday (8th-11th). Help will be available to
transport large and/or heavy items to the church during these hours. To request help or

Sunday, May 10, 2009 - Three Bethany youth were confirmed
Saturday, November 1, 2008, 5 - 7 pm - Bethany Fall Festival - For Pre-Schoolers through Young Adults. Be a part of the fun! There will be face painting, a dance contest, pumpkin decorating, story telling, team scarecrow construction and wacky games! Bring a friend! Dinner will be provided. We would love to see you there!! Talent Show Scheduled for Sunday, June 1, 2008 - The Family Ministries Committee of Bethany UMC is sponsoring a Talent Show on Sunday, June 1, at 6:00 p.m., in the Warren Belvin Fellowship Hall. Serious talent, humorous skits, and silly acts of all ages are all invited to perform for the enjoyment of our congregation. Please let Carol Schultz (694-0250), Bain Schultz (642-0604, or Sandy Fox (642-5091) know of your interest in being included!
Pastor to Lead Second Confirmation Class - Because there are so many interested youth, Pastor Steve is leading a second nine-week confirmation class for interested 6th graders, beginning on April 13, 2008 with Confirmation scheduled for June 22, 2009. Six sixth graders are planning to participate. Classes will be held on Sundays following the 11 oclock service.
Confirmation - On April 13, 2008, eight young people were confirmed and received as full members of the church. All of these young people are active in the Youth Group at Bethany.
Redskins Trip - Some of Bethany's Youth along with fellow youth groups were honored at the Redskins training center for their hard work and dedication to "Helping Hands Mission Camp 2007". The group received a substantial grant, which will be used for materials for "Helping Hands Mission Camp 2008".
Abingdon Ruritan Club Fashion Show - Bethany youth helped the Abington Women's Club for the 2008 fashion show/charity luncheon. Bethany's Youth Group was the wait staff. All proceeds from the event benefited Hospice and The Louis Puller Society.
Fan the Flames Youth Retreat - Nineteen youth and four adult attended "Fan the Flame" at beautiful Rockbrige Camp the last weekend of March. Our youth joined over 300 youth for a weekend of praise, worship, and lots of fun!!!!! One day we had sunshine and the next morning we woke up to snow. Here are some of the photos.

As you can see, Bethany is blessed with an active, involved, caring, devoted, and fun-loving Youth Program. Our program continues to blossom and grow under the able leadership of Sondra Colbert, Director of Youth Ministries.
